]]>This year we have 11 horses out being decorated by many of the local school children ready for Bounds Day.
As soon as they are all completed they will be photographed and put onto our Facebook page for the public to vote for their favourite horse by liking the pictures. The winning school will receive a trophy and a prize.
The horses will also be on display in the former Iceland building where we will also be displaying some of the children’s colouring entries too.
Please go along and have a look at them all, they are really impressive!

Once again we are asking local businesses to support us and take part in our annual window dressing competition. This competition is becoming hugely popular and fiercely competitive! However this is a bit of fun to brighten up our town for Bounds day and hopefully help to attract more visitors to the local businesses whilst they are in town to watch the cavalcade and have the chance of winning a trophy!
It doesn’t necessarily need to be horse themed, just a window decorated with our town colours of red and royal blue would be fantastic!
It is free to enter the competition but all entrants are required to email us at berwickbounds@yahoo.co.uk or drop us a message on Facebook so we can let the judges know that you are taking part and they don’t miss you!
Our judges will be visiting the decorated windows on Sunday 28th April. Good luck to all entrants and Thank you again for your continued support!

]]>Rebecca, Beth and Courtnay have visited many of the border town’s sashing/installation events where each town installs their new principals for the year.
June 2018
Our 3 Principals and our Mascot Kieran all took part in Yetholm’s annual rideout ‘ Stobstanes’.
Stobstane’s is always a great ride, amazing scenery with some good long gallops! They all had a fantastic ride and everyone came home safely!
Our Mascot also completed the Morebattle ride out on 24th june!
July 2018
July was an even busier month for the principals.
They all attended the armed forces day parade in Berwick, then the following day it was the kirking of the Duns Reiver, which kicked off the start of the Duns summer festival.
Our Mascot Kieran took part in the Junior ride out on the Monday night and again on the Tuesday evening for the Gymkhana, taking 1st place in the games!
the Friday night was the Reivers Ball, a chance for our ladies to ditch the riding attire and glam up in their ball gowns!! They all had an enjoyable night and and after a few hours sleep managed to climb back in to the riding attire for the 8.30am start for the main ride out to on the Saturday!

Duns was very hot this year and it certainly took its toll on our horses and riders, but all came back safe and sound to a well deserved cold drink!
Then came the Tweedmouth feast float parade. Our principals were up front leading the salmon queen and various other colourful floats around Berwick.
Also in July our Chief Marshal Rebecca Allan became Mrs Rebecca Tait, when she married 2007 Coldstreamer Andrew Tait! Congratulations to you both!

August 2018
Coldstream Civic week! Always a favourite for our team! Our principals attended most of the events throughout the week, starting with the opening ceremony on the sunday.
Monday saw the rideout to Norham. Bethany, Courtnay and Mascot Kieran all rode.
Kieran also rode to Birgham on the Wednesday night.
Thursday..the big one.. Flodden Day.
Probably the highlight of the summer. All of our principals took part in this spectacular ride to commemorate the fallen from the battle of Flodden in 1513. Although a brilliant ride with well over 300 horses taking part you cant help but feel quite emotional whilst galloping up Branxton Hill, the place where so many people lost their lives all those years ago.
The principals finished off the week by once again swapping the jods for a ball gown for the annual Coldstream Ball.
September 2018
September saw the final ride out for the season for our principals.. Edinburgh Riding of the Marches.
the chance to ride up the Royal Mile!! All horses and jockeys had a good day and all came back in one piece!
October 2018
Kelso Races Border Principal’s race.
On the 7th October our Chief Marshal Rebecca took part in the infamous Border Principals Race! A very popular race amongst the common riding towns and probably the 2nd best part of being a Principal!
Sadly no win for Berwick but a very respectable 4th place instead!
A good day was had by all!

Well that’s it over for another year! What an amazing day!! We could not have asked for better weather although a little hot and with no rain for a while the ground was very hard!
A cavalcade of 85 horses took part this year! A very well done to our Chief Marshal Rebecca Allan and her principals Bethany Innes and Courtnay Grey. I think you will all agree they did a fantastic job!
We would like to thank everyone who took part, foot marshals and ridden marshals, the landowners who allow us to cross their land, Rapid Reaction who provided our first aid cover, the Police, the Council, the quad men, front and back car support and all of our sponsors and friends! and anyone else we may have missed! The ride would not be possible without all these people.
Thank you all again!

On Saturday 24th March we held our Sashing event.
Our 2017 Chief Marshal Bethany Innes was piped to the Guildhall where she returned the Berwick Flag back to the Mayor. All principals were de-sashed and we sadly had to say good bye to our Left hand man Rachel Martin. Her time as a principal is over and she can have an easy summer this year.
Bethany has now become our Left hand man. her job this year is to assist the Chief Marshal and show the right hand man the ropes!
Our Chief Marshal for 2018 is Rebecca Allan. She had a great first year and she has an even busier year this year!
She was presented with the Berwick flag after a short ceremony on the steps, then piped into the Guildhall.
Our new principal this year is our Right hand man Courtnay Grey. We hope she will enjoy her 3 years in office!
During the evening our increasing popular Mascot position was chosen, all applicants names were put into a hat and one picked by our 2017 Mascot Talia Watson.
Our 2018 Berwick Mascot is Kieran Dodds.
An enjoyable evening was had by all and the iconic horsey hopper races were highly amusing!
Just hope they are all better at riding real horses than they are toy ones!!
